When you need stairs, we step up.

Nencon’s construction staff has over 20 years experience forming, placing, and finishing concrete for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial projects. More recently Nencon has directed significant attention to concrete stair applications and has developed a systematic approach to construction methods and controls that achieves higher-quality, more durable, cast-in-place concrete stair with an exceptional even blemish-free colour and finish.

Why Nencon stairs perform better over time:

  • All elevations are set to specified dimensions using laser-guided equipment.

  • All Nencon-designed stairs are professionally-engineered.  Compliance with Nencon or third-party engineering requirements is fully-documented.

  • Stair foundations are constructed in full compliance with engineered construction documents

  • Concrete thickness is carefully monitored to conform to construction documents requirements.

  • Reinforcing is correctly installed into the stair and solidly chaired to the correct elevation placed  to develop maximum resistance to concrete cracking.

  • Completed reinforcing for every stair is documented photographically.

  • Formwork surfaces in contact with concrete are lined to minimise opportunity for honeycombing.

  • Formwork incorporates structural steel sections and specialty products to ensure even, level surfaces and ultra-straight lines and edges.

  • Forms are externally vibrated to consolidate concrete, dissipate air bubbles at concrete-formwork interfaces, and produce a smooth blemish-free finish.

  • Nencon’s specially-designed formwork and placing procedures create uniform and controlled curing to both stair riser and tread surfaces, reducing or eliminating effects of sun, rain, wind, or temperature, minimising cracking, enhancing durability, and creating an even ultra clean finish.
